In collaboration with US planner Jennifer Zabinski, Rachel Birthistle Studio designed a wedding on the island of Capri pairing romantic, garden-inspired ceremony details with a vibrant transformation of Il Riccio’s iconic beachside restaurant.
PROJECT BRIEF
The Studio was commissioned to design a Capri celebration, from a floral-filled rooftop ceremony at Capri Palace to an embroidered, colour-rich dinner at Il Riccio. Every element, from umbrellas to cushions, was crafted to bring charm and individuality.
Working alongside esteemed US planner Jennifer Zabinski, Rachel Birthistle Studio brought a layered design vision to life on the island of Capri. The ceremony took place on the rooftop of the Capri Palace, where soaring temperatures shaped the creative direction. Elegant umbrellas were integrated into the floral design from the outset—not only for shade, but as sculptural elements adorned with blooms climbing their stems, evoking a whimsical garden in the sky.
Guests then moved to Il Riccio, the cliffside beach restaurant, which the Studio fully reimagined for the evening. Overhead, original lighting was replaced with custom-made hanging lampshades, casting a soft glow across the space. The table linens were specially embroidered with rich-toned motifs, complementing the Ginori plates and Mediterranean setting.
One of the most personal details: each guest’s chair cushion was hand-painted with their name, serving both as place card and keepsake—an unexpected, playful touch that balanced refinement with charm.
