Rachel Birthistle Studio designed a layered celebration from a patterned garden welcome at Kempinski to a romantic Belmond wedding and Venetian-inspired afterparty. The weekend was a vibrant fusion of heritage, whimsy, and detail.
PROJECT BRIEF
From bold prints to gilded accents, the Studio created a three-part wedding experience. A garden welcome at Kempinski, a classic ceremony at Belmond, and a masquerade afterparty. Each moment carried a distinct atmosphere shaped by design.
The weekend began with a vibrant garden party at Kempinski, where the bride’s love of bold pattern set the tone. Rachel Birthistle Studio curated a layered mix of La Double J plates and vases paired with yellow linens. A custom-built floral bar, printed to echo the maximalist tableware, grounded the space in colour and playfulness.
The ceremony took place in the gardens of the Belmond, framed by a classic Chuppah. For the dinner, held in the dramatic brick-lined ballroom, the Studio leaned into the building’s palette and texture using Murano glass table lamps, Ginori plates, and gold tassel napkins to add richness and weight.
The afterparty unfolded in the adjacent space, which was transformed for a Venetian mask ball. Velvet booths, lounge seating, and floor-to-ceiling draping created a seductive, theatrical environment—a bold and immersive close to a weekend of evolving design narratives.
